The Dobbie Award

In May of 2008 I was shortlisted for the Dobbie Award, an award for first-time women writers, which is part of the Kibble Award. I flew up to Sydney (from my residency in Tasmania) for the media lunch and the announcement at the Museum of Contemporary Art at Circular Quay. Thank you so much to Perpetual and the State Library of New South Wales for a wonderful event and for maintaining such an important set of awards. Here are some pics of the evening: Pic 1 (Student doing a reading from my book), Pic 2 (Student doing a reading from my book), Pic 3 (me getting my award), Pic 4 (me and one of the judges).

Tasmanian Writer in Residence 2008

In April/May 2008 I was a Writer in Residence in Tasmania in 2008 as part of the Tasmanian Writers' Centre's (TWC) Island of Residencies program.

I had a wonderful time and I got another 20,000 words down on my new novel. I am very grateful to Chris and Sue at the Tas Writers Centre for their support, and to the TWC's Island of Residencies which is supported by the Copyright Agency Limited, Arts Tasmania, the City of Hobart and Burnie City Council.
